Pre-Construction Contamination Profiling
PRE-CONSTRUCTION PROFILING
Pre-Construction Profiling is used to determine the
amount
and extent of soil contamination before removing or installing
Underground Storage Tanks or excavating or constructing for any
purposes, on possibly contaminated soil.
Predetermination of the amount and extent of the
contamination allows for planning how to proceed with your
project.
With Profiling you will learn, find, answer or
establish
the following:
- The aerial extent and concentration of the soil
contamination.
- If over-excavating is practical and to what extent
should it be done.
- Pre-approval by a land fill, to accept the soil
before any excavating, thus reducing soil handling and exposure. The
soil can go directly from the excavator into the truck with no
stockpiles consuming valuable space on site. Your crews and equipment
will not have to wait for analytical results and acceptance for
disposal.
- You can plan in advance the type(s) of remedial
action(s) that will be needed and what your system equipment needs will
be. This allows for a better plan for the site.
Profiling Procedures
Depending on the complexity of the site,
Pre-Profiling can
vary from simply obtaining a few soil samples from hand augured
holes to a more complex study that may involve a direct push or
drilling study and/or
installing temporary groundwater monitor wells. Sites that are
more complex may require a full Rapid
Site Characterization.
